Gatehouse and vehicle checks
Sign drivers, visitors and contractors in and out, check paperwork against agreed procedures and keep a record of vehicle movements.

Directly employed officers · BS 7858 screening · 24/7 support
From the gate to the loading bay
Warehouse security starts with control of the entrances. An officer can check drivers, visitors and contractors, record vehicle movements and make sure people only reach the areas they are cleared for.
Inside the site, agree patrols of the yard, loading bays, high-value stock areas and fire exits, and how the officer reports damage, open doors or suspicious activity to your shift manager.
Warehouse guarding is part of our manned guarding services. Read how guarding protects business continuity for sites that cannot afford downtime.

Sign drivers, visitors and contractors in and out, check paperwork against agreed procedures and keep a record of vehicle movements.
Watch the busiest points of the site, where stock, people and vehicles meet, and report anything that does not match the agreed process.
Patrol the yard, perimeter and building at agreed times. Record the time, location, what was found and the action taken.
Different sites, different risks
A small trade unit needs a different brief from a 24-hour distribution centre. Tell us how your site works, when it is busiest and where the risks are.
Gatehouse control, driver checks, yard patrols and shift handovers for sites that run day and night.
A visible presence where customers, staff and high-value stock share the same building, as in our Costco warehouse security case study.
Access control for staff and contractors, checks of plant and storage areas, and cover when production stops.
Patrols and checks for open yards, containers and stored materials, especially out of hours and at weekends.

People and accountability
USSG’s direct guarding assignments use directly employed, SIA-licensed officers screened to BS 7858 before deployment. Before the first shift, agree the site induction, the duties and the person responsible for day-to-day contact.
USSG holds SIA Approved Contractor status for Security Guarding and Key Holding. This is a company approval with a defined scope; it is separate from each officer’s licence.

Officer duties, site induction, supervision, absence cover, incident reporting and how the assignment will be reviewed.
A brief for every shift
Agree the handover between officers and with your shift manager: open incidents, expected deliveries and any areas that need extra checks.
Decide whether the site needs an officer present, scheduled patrols or an alarm-response arrangement when the building is closed.
Plan extra cover for peak trading, stocktakes, site moves and holiday shutdowns before they start, not on the day.
Case study
At Costco Wholesale warehouses, USSG officers work at entrances and exits, high-value product areas and car parks, with loss prevention patrols, access checks at staff entrances, first aid and emergency response, and detailed incident reporting.
The published case study reports a marked fall in shoplifting and internal theft at the Costco locations where USSG operates, alongside quicker responses to medical incidents and disputes.

Before you appoint a provider
Practical answers about duties, staffing and arranging cover for your site.
A warehouse security officer carries out the duties agreed for the site. These can include gatehouse and vehicle checks, visitor and driver sign-in, patrols of the yard and building, checks around loading bays and high-value stock areas, and incident reporting. Duties are set out in the assignment instructions before the first shift.
USSG’s direct guarding assignments are delivered by directly employed, SIA-licensed officers screened to BS 7858 before deployment. USSG holds SIA Approved Contractor status for Security Guarding and Key Holding.
Yes, these can be discussed. Tell us the hours, the days the site is closed and what needs checking, and USSG will confirm staffing and availability before the cover is booked.
USSG considers enquiries for distribution centres, logistics yards, wholesale and retail warehouses and industrial units. Send the postcode, site layout and operating pattern so the requirement can be assessed.
Yes. Static guarding can be combined with key holding and alarm response for the hours the site is closed. CCTV and K9 requirements are arranged through specialist suppliers, with each responsibility agreed separately.
No. A visible presence, agreed checks and clear reporting support loss prevention, but no guarding service can guarantee that theft will not happen. Security should work alongside your stock controls, access rules and site procedures.
Costs depend on the number of officers, the hours of cover, the size of the site, the number of gates and entrances, the duties and the length of the contract. A written proposal should set out the scope and the charges.
Send the site postcode, the type of operation, the hours you need covered, the main risks and your proposed start date. USSG will review the brief and agree the next step, which may include a site visit.
