Which forms do I need to complete?
Security applicants complete all four security forms: the job application, equal opportunities monitoring, the Working Time Regulations agreement and the SIA skills assessment. Cleaning applicants complete the three cleaning forms: the job application, equal opportunities monitoring and the Working Time Regulations agreement.
Do I need an SIA licence to apply for security jobs?
Yes. Security officers on licensable duties, such as guarding, key holding or door supervision, must hold the correct Security Industry Authority licence before they can work. If your licence application is in progress, say so on your application form.
What is BS 7858 screening?
BS 7858 is the British Standard for screening people who work in security. It checks your identity, right to work and employment history, usually covering the last five years, and includes criminal record and credit checks. USSG screens security officers to BS 7858 before deployment.
Do cleaning jobs need an SIA licence?
No. Cleaning roles do not need an SIA licence, but you must have the right to work in the UK.
Where are the jobs based?
Our head office is in Stockport, Greater Manchester, and our teams work on client sites across the UK. Tell us where you live and how far you can travel, and see the areas we cover.
What happens after I submit the forms?
Our HR team reviews your forms. If your application is shortlisted, we contact you to arrange an interview, followed by right to work checks and, for security roles, BS 7858 screening and SIA licence checks.
What is the Working Time Regulations agreement?
The Working Time Regulations limit average weekly working time to 48 hours, usually averaged over 17 weeks. Workers aged 18 or over can choose to opt out of the 48-hour limit in writing, and the agreement form records your choice.
Why do you ask for equal opportunities information?
It helps us check that our recruitment is fair to everyone and reaches people from all backgrounds.
Can I send a CV instead of filling in the forms?
No, especially to meet the requirements of BS7858 Screening and Vetting our Security Staff are required to complete all our HR forms, in the format provided with accompanying valid evidence therein. So, to streamline our HR processes we ask all job applicants to complete the same forms for whichever role they are applying for, to enable our HR Dept to collect everything needed in the one place.

Ready to join USSG?
Choose your role and complete the forms, or email your CV to Hr@ussgl.co.uk. Please include the role you are interested in and where you live.
