Security visits at the times that matter

Mobile Patrol SecurityScheduled visits, lock-ups & night patrols

SIA-licensed officers visit your premises at agreed times to check the building, lock or unlock, and report what they find. A practical option when a full-time guard is more than your site needs.

What happens on each visit

A planned visit.
A clear record of what was checked.

A mobile patrol is a security officer visiting your premises at agreed times, rather than staying on site for a whole shift. Each visit follows a patrol brief that lists the checks for your building.

Checks can include doors, windows, shutters, gates and fences, alarm panels, lighting and fire exits. The officer records the time of the visit, what was found and any action taken.

Patrols are part of our manned guarding services and work well with key holding and alarm response for the hours between visits.

Sites that suit patrols

Who uses mobile patrols?

Patrols suit premises that are empty for part of the day or week, or that need regular checks without a guard on site all the time.

Offices & business units

Evening and weekend checks after staff leave, with lock-up and alarm checks at agreed times.

Industrial sites & warehouses

Night patrols of yards, gates and perimeters. See our warehouse security page for sites that need a guard on site.

Construction sites

Visits outside working hours to check fencing, plant and site cabins. For full cover, see construction site security.

Choosing the right cover

Mobile patrols or a static guard?

Choose a patrol when the site needs regular checks. Choose a static guard when someone must be present all the time, for example to control a gate, check visitors or watch high-value stock.

Some sites use both: a guard during working hours and patrols at night or at weekends. Others combine patrols with key holding, so an officer can also attend when the alarm activates.

What to agree before booking

Number of visits, the visit window, the checks, access arrangements, who receives the report and what happens if a problem is found.

Before you book patrols

Mobile patrol questions, answered.

Practical answers about visits, checks and costs.

What is mobile patrol security?

Mobile patrol security means an SIA-licensed officer visits your premises at agreed times instead of staying on site for a full shift. On each visit the officer carries out the checks set out in the patrol brief, such as doors, windows, gates, alarms and lighting, and reports what was found.

What happens on a patrol visit?

The checks are agreed before the service starts. A visit can include external and internal checks, locking or unlocking, checking alarm panels and fire exits, and recording damage, intruders or hazards. A report is shared with your nominated contact.

Is a mobile patrol cheaper than a static guard?

Usually, because you pay for agreed visits rather than a full shift. A patrol is not a replacement for a guard when someone needs to be present all the time, for example to control a gate or check visitors.

Can patrol visits be at random times?

Yes, visit times can be varied within an agreed window so the pattern is harder to predict. The number of visits, the window and the checks are set out in the proposal.

Can mobile patrols be combined with key holding and alarm response?

Yes. Many sites use scheduled patrols together with key holding, so an officer can also attend when the alarm activates. Each service has its own agreed procedure.

Are your patrol officers SIA licensed?

USSG’s direct assignments are delivered by directly employed, SIA-licensed officers screened to BS 7858. USSG holds SIA Approved Contractor status for Security Guarding and Key Holding.

How much do mobile patrols cost?

Costs depend on the number of visits, the time of day, the length of each visit, the checks required, the distance to the site and the length of the contract. A written proposal should set out the visits and the charges.

How do I arrange mobile patrols?

Send the site postcode, the type of premises, when it is empty, how many visits you want and what should be checked. USSG will review the brief, confirm availability and agree the patrol plan.
